Action now will deliver more rapid decline in emissions
Commenting on yesterday’s (18 May) vote on targets in the Scottish Parliament’s Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee (TICC), Duncan McLaren, Friends of the Earth Scotland Chief Executive, said:
“Ambitious early action delivers the most climate benefits – reducing the cumulative emissions budget by more than equivalent cuts later.
“The TICC Committee has recognised the importance of early action, but must also match its ambitions with practical proposals to deliver the cuts needed.
“All the parties will have to be prepared to back the necessary decisions with both financial and political capital.”
