UK Government climate change deal – Friends of the Earth Scotland comment
Commenting on the news of a ‘Historic climate change deal with legal powers agreed by Cabinet’, Juliet Swann, Head of Campaigns at Friends of the Earth Scotland, said:
“That the UK Government is respecting the opinions of the Committee on Climate Change and implementing these ambitious targets is great news.
“What the Scottish Government must do now is ensure that that we Scots take full advantage of our position to improve the green economy, with a full commitment to phasing out fossil fuels in favour of renewables and proper investment in energy efficiency, public transport, walking and cycling and electrification of private transport.”
