Friends of the Earth Scotland appoint new Director

We are delighted to welcome Rochana Sheward as our new permanent Director.

As an outstanding candidate, Rochana will bring extensive experience in leadership and systems change through her CEO positions in the not-for-profit and charitable sectors in New Zealand and with a recent master’s degree focusing on the key practices of systems change leadership.

Rochana strongly believes in FoES’s mission to work towards transformative solutions for a better world through systems change tools that tackle the root causes of environmental and social injustices.

Rochana takes up her position on 2nd September 2024.

Florence Garabedian, our current interim CEO, will leave the organisation in mid September. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our huge thanks to Florence for her leadership, engagement and support throughout the past year and wish her all the best for the future.

Over the past 40 years, Friends of the Earth Scotland has secured safer food and water, defended wildlife and natural habitats, defeated coal-fired power stations and the fracking industry, delivered a world-leading Climate Act for Scotland and mobilised hundreds of thousands of people in support of action on the climate.
