The strategic approach to critical minerals has been strongly led by Westminster, overlooking the priorities of devolved nations. The social and environmental impacts of critical mineral extraction are often serious and extensive, and this means that when UK plans fail to account for devolved concerns, the consequences for people and nature can be devastating. This report assesses UK and devolved policies around critical minerals and makes recommendations on how to improve them and minimise impact.

This report was written jointly by Friends of the Earth Scotland, Friends of the Earth England, Northern Ireland and Wales, the Trade Justice Movement, the London Mining Network and Common Weal.
