Episcopal and Catholic Churches shed fossil fuel shares
Tomás Insua, the Director of Global Catholic Climate Movement, said: “The moral clarity of these 40 divesting institutions is cause for celebration. Their leadership blazes a path that other financial bodies should follow.”
The announcement came shortly after the news that the Episcopal Church of Scotland had divested from coal and tar sands, a laudable first step towards going fossil free.
Bright Now, the UK churches campaign for divestment, encourages others to get involved with divestment within their own church communities or join Christian Aid’s Big Shift campaign.
