Friends of the Earth Scotland celebrates additional award from People’s Postcode Lottery
Friends of the Earth Scotland is delighted to confirm that players of People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded it an extra £25,000, as part of a £2 million bonus to their long-term supported charities. Friends of the Earth Scotland is one of 40 charities that will receive an additional award from players of the charity lottery.
The support from players has made a huge difference to hundreds of communities with funding awarded to numerous grass-roots groups and local projects as well as national and international charities.
Friends of the Earth Scotland will use the £25,000 award to bring power to the people. The environmental charity are working with partners to promote small-scale community renewable projects across the country.
Dr. Richard Dixon, Director of Friends of the Earth Scotland, said “We’re thrilled to receive this award from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. It will be a huge boost as we work to help communities throughout Scotland unlock the benefits of community energy”.
Just last month it was announced that players have awarded over £40 million to charities and good causes and in January, People’s Postcode Lottery and their sister lotteries in the Netherlands and Sweden were collectively announced as the second largest charitable private donor in the world. ,In total over £4.9 billion has been awarded to good causes across the globe.
