IT Entrepreneur raises funds for the environment
An online sound library has raised over £5,000 for Friends of the Earth Scotland in a few days.
Edinburgh based entrepreneur Ben Gillett’s company Camel Audio is offering customers a deal they can’t refuse on their new Planet Earth Sound Library. For the month of August only, customers can pay what they wish for the sounds, which usually retail at around £39.
Around 50% of the money raised is being donated to Friends of the Earth Scotland.
Whether you write electronica, ambient or dance music, Planet Earth is packed full of sounds to inspire you and was created with the same uncompromising attention to detail as all other Camel Audio Sound Libraries.
Customers also receive Alchemy Player, a simpler version of Alchemy which has won numerous awards in the music technology press. Camel Audio software and sounds are widely used in Hollywood film scores by the most sucessful composers such as Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer, as well as numerous electronic artists from Orbital and Coldcut to Sasha and BT.
Camel Audio have also recently supported Friends of the Earth Scotland by donating 1% of their sales through the initiative ‘1% For the Planet’.
Ben Gillett said:
“My dad devoted most of his life to helping to look after our planet, and I’ve ended up spending most of mine on the less noble cause of creating software to make weird noises! So it’s great that through Planet Earth and our membership of 1% for the Planet, we can help out the people at Friends of the Earth who do fantastic work campaigning on the most urgent environmental issues.”
Davina Shiell, Head of Supporter Development at Friends of the Earth Scotland, said:
“We’re really grateful to Camel Audio and to all their customers who have bought the Planet Earth Sound Library so far. The money raised will go towards campaigning to protect the environment in Scotland and around the world.”
