An online sound library has raised £16,000 for Friends of the Earth Scotland in just a month.

[img_assist|nid=834|title=Ben Gillet cheque handover|desc=Ben Gillet and Camel Audio staff handing over the cheque to Duncan McLaren and Chris Revie.|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=301]Throughout August, Edinburgh based entrepreneur Ben Gillett’s company Camel Audio sold their Planet Earth software at a discount, donating 50% of the income to Friends of the Earth Scotland.

Camel Audio staff dressed up as penguins to hand over a cheque of £16,000 to Friends of the Earth Scotland’s Chief Executive Duncan McLaren and Chair Chris Revie. Penguins symbolise the charity’s climate change campaign, which the money is being put towards.

Ben Gillett, Camel Audio ‘Head Camel’, said:

“I’m really pleased that we were able to raise so much to help Friends of the Earth with the fantastic work they do campaigning on the worlds most urgent environmental problems. I’m very grateful to the 3000 people who contributed and helped to spread the word. I also highly recommend dressing up in penguin suits!”

Camel Audio have also recently supported Friends of the Earth Scotland by donating 1% of their sales through the initiative ‘1% For the Planet’.

Davina Shiell, Head of Supporter Development at Friends of the Earth Scotland, said:

“We’re really grateful to Camel Audio and to all their customers who have bought the Planet Earth Sound Library. The money raised will go towards campaigning to protect the environment in Scotland and around the world.”
