Friends of the Earth Scotland have welcomed government support for an upgrade to Glasgow’s underground system.

Francis Stuart, Friends of the Earth Scotland Parliamentary Officer, said: “This is a welcome commitment to upgrade a key public transport artery for Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

“Investment in green infrastructure like this is exactly what we need to see more of. The government should now look at unnecessary projects such as the additional £2bn Forth Road Bridge and consider whether this investment can be redirected into green projects.”
