Rally stands with Lancashire fracking protestors
While the Scottish Government is consulting the public on whether to give fracking the go ahead, the UK Government appears hell-bent on forcing fracking on communities in England. Ministers overturned a locally-refused planning application at Preston New Road in Lancashire last year, and Cuadrilla have now started work with the aim of starting fracking in the next few months.
The local community, along with other concerned groups, have been fiercely resisting these plans for 6 years and have set up a protest camp at the site. A national rally was held at this fracking frontline on Saturday 25th of February, with speakers including our sister Friends of the Earth group’s Craig Bennett, and was attended by hundreds of people from across the UK. This lovely video capturers why many attended the Lancashire protest.
