Friends of the Earth Scotland response to Aberdeen City Council consultation on Low Emission Zones for the city.

Our response spells out why option 4A is the best option for clean air in Aberdeen.

It covers the largest area of the city centre, meaning it will lead to genuine reductions in toxic pollution. Option 4A also covers all the persistent pollution hotspots that Aberdeen has suffered in recent years.

Aberdeen’s Low Emission Zone is long overdue. The LEZ must must take account of the recent delay to implementation until 2022, and introduce a range of sustainable transport measures alongside a large zone which applies to all vehicle types.
