Climate Change Plan Update Must Deliver Transformational Change

In December 2020 the Scottish Government launched an update to its Climate Change Plan – the document setting out the actions Scotland will take to achieve our climate targets.

Ahead of the publication of the draft Climate Change Plan update, Friends of the Earth Scotland created this document which sets out the transformative policies  we believe the Government must adopt to achieve our crucial 2030 climate target.

Alongside policies across all sector, the update must also illustrate the impact and timeline of each policy, delivering on the 2019 Climate Act, avoid false solutions like Carbon Capture and Storage or hydrogen from fossil fuels, and address sectors which continue to be a high source of emissions – like transport and heat from buildings.
