Nuclear power: 

• Is hugely expensive to build and run, with higher costs than wind or solar 
• Is not renewable 
• Produces dangerous radioactive waste which must be managed for thousands of years 
• Is incredibly slow to construct 

With growing need for an energy transition, the nuclear industry has tried to present itself as a low carbon alternative to fossil fuels. This is a dangerous distraction from the need to increase publicly owned renewables in Scotland.
