Our Power: Offshore workers’ demands for a just energy transition demands 1-4 sit under the theme ‘Our Transition’.

Workers are frustrated by the costly training needed to do their existing jobs, which is higher still for workers transitioning into renewable energy. No one knows the challenges of working in the offshore energy system better than the workers who have been doing it for years.

For those interested or able to make the transition, there are simply not enough green jobs available. Much of the manufacturing and fabrication of renewables and oil and gas decommissioning is carried out overseas.

Demands 1-4 cover some of the nuts and bolts of transition planning: how we utilise skills that already exist in the workforce, skill-up where necessary, create new jobs and open up pathways for existing workers to move across.
