Request for investigation into breaches of Ministerial Code
Friends of the Earth Scotland have demanded a formal investitgation by the Scottish Government about 27 breaches of the Scottish Government Ministerial Code.
These breaches relate to various ministerial meetings with developers SSE and Equinor, public statements in support of the planning application and refusal to discuss the project with objectors.
SSE and Equinor submitted a planning application to build an additional gas burning power station at Peterhead. The Peterhead application was received by the Scottish Ministers on 18th February 2022 and is under consideration by the Energy Consents Unit.
Friends of the Earth Scotland first wrote to Scottish Government in July 2024, with the First Minister replying in August 2024.
Others documents which detail the complaint, along with supporting evidence such as Freedom of Information (FOI) responses, letters from Ministers and a list of meetings in question can be found on this page.
