Evidence to the Justice Committee on the Scottish Civil Justice Council Bill
FoES and ELCS joint evidence to the Justice Committee on the Scottish Civil Justice Council Bill, as part of our Access to Environmental Justice campaign. The Bill introduces a new single Scottish Civil Justice Council to replace the two existing Rules Councils and with a brand new policy remit. The Council will be responsible for implementing many of the reforms recommended in the 2009 Gill Review and keeping civil justice system under ongoing review as well as drafting rules. As a result it will have a significant influence over the way environmental law develops in Scotland and impact on the way that individuals, communities and NGOs engage in the justice system.
