Creating Solidarities and Eradicating Silences: The Disabled Climate Justice Archive Project
Telling and preserving stories to build a shared vision of solidarity for the future.
What is Creating Solidarities and Eradicating Silences?
Creating Solidarities and Eradicating Silences is a year long community archive project recording disabled knowledge, history and lived experience of climate change and activism across Scotland.
Young Friends of the Earth Scotland members from the Intersectionality working group proposed the project last year and meet every two weeks to design and develop. Launching with a workshop series in January 2026, archive material will be gathered across the year and drawn together in an exhibition. We want to strengthen solidarity between disabled people and their allies to collectively advocate for climate justice in the face of climate change.
Why your story matters
Experiences of disabled communities during climate change are marginalised within climate activism movements and everyday life in the present but also in the ways knowledge is collected and produced.
In collaboration with National Libraries of Scotland your stories will be preserved for future generations and become a part of Scotland’s heritage.
How can I share my story?
If you are between 16-30, live in Scotland, and a disabled/neurodivergent person, ally or activist whose understanding of what they do has been shaped by disability justice in Scotland – we want to hear from you!
